telc - B1 German Exam

Normally requires: around 600 hours of instruction

The TELC B1 German language test documents that you possess general language knowledge on the level of B1 of the CEFR.

At the B1 level you can use German competently in situations of daily living and your professional work environment, and you can communicate in a simple and coherent way in every life and during travels. You can tell about things you have experienced, describe goals and explain opinions. You can generally and appropriately apply the most important grammatical structures.

Obtaining the B1 certificate provides proof of language proficiency at many German universities for various German language degree programs and is an admissions requirement for various English language degree programs.

The B1 certificate also fulfills language proficiency requirements for obtaining German citizenship.

About the Test

The test consists of one written and one oral section.

The written exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes long. You will have 20 minutes to prepare for the oral exam.

The oral exam is administered in pairs and can take place on the day of the written exam or on another day.
